As we wind down 2019, so to do we close the decade. We have shared many wonderful successes and milestones with each other over the years. Mike and Miriam built a strong customer-service centered tax service and following investment firm who’s primary goal was to facilitate the needs of their clientele. In the years that followed, clients became friends and the firms that were built became a close-knit group and a family.
Mike and Miriam decided to semi-retire a few years ago from the accounting business with Mike solely focusing on Attentive Investment Managers full-time. Miriam stayed on to assist with the management of the office and both took up some new hobbies in their free time. Mike continues his jaunts to the Grand Canyon and has played more rounds of Golf than ever. He also, volunteers many hours to the Board of Brookside Country Club benefiting them with as much of his financial knowledge as he can provide. Miriam, took up Bowling in addition to Golf and also began to learn to play Bridge. Together, they have begun traveling the world in search of new adventure. They traveled to Africa, where Mike literally ‘jumped off a bridge’ and hiked to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and they shared a fantastic Safari together. This past summer they explored the hills and valleys of Italy. They were able to see so many fantastic pieces of history, enjoy the stunning countryside and sample some of the finest foods and wine. Their great adventure for the new decade will be visiting Peru in the summer of 2020. Of course, you know Mike, he will be exploring the wilds there and plans to climb Machu Picchu and see other wonders such as the Rainbow Mountain, the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon.
Athena has been with Attentive now for 16 ½ years. Very fortunately she was provided a fantastic mentor in Mike. Under his guidance, she was able to significantly further her education receiving several financial designations and most significantly a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning. She and her husband Jon have also been very busy raising their family. Her oldest, Kylee who was only 1 years old when Athena began her career here at Attentive, is preparing to graduate in 2020. Her daughter Sam (12) is a soccer star and straight A student. Mack, her oldest son who is almost 10, is an Honor Roll student as well, plays Baseball and has recently taken up learning to play the Drums. Both Sam and Mack will be training to earn their Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2020. Athena’s youngest Myles (5) is in pre-school and very excited to do homework like his older siblings and Mom.
Attentive has been extremely lucky to have welcomed Dianne back into the fold at the office, who has been back with us for about a year and a half. We are fortunate that Dianne’s husband Bill shares his lovely wife with us for her skillset is unmatched. She brings warmth and familiarity to our team here at the office. When Dianne isn’t helping keep Mike and Athena organized, she is chronicling the adventures of Winston ‘The Squirrel Hunter’, her very spunky Grand-Dog. She is quite proud of her two sons - Matt, who proudly serves in our Armed Forces and is recently engaged and Justin and his wife along with their two beautiful daughters give her much to be thankful for. We hope that Dianne graces us at the office with her lovely smile and personality for many years to come.
It is our hope that you enjoyed our little recap of the last 10 years and what we are looking forward to. We are extremely excited for what this new decade will bring to our family and friends here at Attentive and wish you all the success in 2020! HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
